All acts, no matter how empowering they may feel, fit within a patriarchal context. Which means, if not all, then MOST acts are a product of conditioning or cultural coercion.

One of the biggest lies of post-modern feminism is that women have agency in patriarchy.

We do not.

We are still second-class citizens in patriarchy and still lack the economic, political and cultural power to actually empower ourselves. Until then, feeding into the demands of the male gaze isn’t going to have long-term positive affects for women as a class.

Personal empowerment that relies on patriarchy and it’s normalization of hierarchy and its warped take on sexuality, is just feminism being re-packaged to make men more comfortable in their already privileged position.
